ABBEY Hill Golf Centre celebrated an unusual half century last week when it welcomed the 50th school to take part in its Golf for Schools initiative.

Year 11 pupils from Shenley Brook End School visited the centre for an introduction to the sport last Wednesday.

The centre launched the initiative in 2009 to aid pupils between the ages of six to 18 to experience golf for the first time in school – through the use of Tri-Golf colourful plastic equipment – or at the centre using the real thing.
