A Furzton man is following his dream of becoming an environmental consultant, thanks to a grant from his social landlord, The Guinness Partnership.
Arnold Zimuto applied for one of Guinness’ annual Aspire Awards earlier this year.
The scheme is designed to help its tenants get back into work or further up the career ladder, by gaining new qualifications and skills.
Arnold’s award of £1,650 is paying for him to complete a Lead Environmental Auditor Course run by the British Standards Institution, which he hopes will help him secure a job in the field.
Since travelling back to the UK from Zimbabwe in 2014 where he was looking after his sick father, Arnold, aged 50, has been unable to find work.
He said: “I have been trying to get a job since I came back, but without experience and professional training it has been difficult. The course will enable me to practise as an environmental auditor and will give me a chance to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming an environmental consultant.”
