Gulliver's visitors benefit food bank

Nearly 10 tonnes of food is on its way to food banks, thanks to kindhearted visitors to Gulliver's.

Over the weekend of May 7 and 8, families visiting Gulliver’s theme parks were offered a reduced admission price of £9 per person – plus a suitable food item to be donated to local food banks.

This was the most successful Food Bank Weekend yet for Gulliver’s which reported its busiest weekend outside of bank holidays at all three of its parks.

The family-run company runs the occasional discount admission events to support local food banks and national charity the Trussell Trust.

Gulliver’spokesman Dean Kimberley said: “We consider ourselves lucky to have some very generous guests.

“Whenever we stage our Food Bank Weekends, we rely on their kindness and they never let us down.

“We appealed to guests to bring one non-perishable food item each, but many of them donated much more.

“On behalf of our local food banks, I want to thank them for their continued support.”

Food donated at Gulliver’s Land in Milton Keynes has been taken to the independent MK Food Bank.

Donations made at Gulliver’s World in Warrington and Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock are being distributed among Trussell Trust food banks close to these parks.

MK Food Bank spokesmanNicholas Brinner said: “Thank you so much to everyone at Gulliver’s for your incredibly kind donation and support.”
