Hairdresser is recognised for achievement

A Milton Keynes hairdresser has been nominated the the Sue Ryder Southern Women of Achievement Awards for her services to the local community.

Tabitha Douglas set up her Peartree Bridge hair salon three years ago, in partnership with Age UK, with the idea of providing a new service to over-55s in the Milton Keynes area.

As well as offering haircuts and a place to meet, Tabitha started providing wigs, toupees and hair treatments for patients suffering with hair loss due to stress, cancer treatment or alopecia.

She was inspired to offer these new services after a close relative and a friend were affected by hair loss as a result of having cancer.

Tabitha also started offering a mobile service, offering haircare at affordable prices in people’s own homes.

Tabitha has been recognised by being nominated in the Woman of Achievement in the community category of the Sue Ryder Southern Women of Achievement Awards 2016.
