Halfords get on their bikes for charity

Halfords has done its bit for charity by taking unwanted bikes off customers’ hands in an initiative to provide much needed affordable transport for communities in Africa.

Between July 11 and July 26, the store invited customers to bring in their bikes that were no longer needed in return for a 10 per cent discount off a brand new model.

The scheme was launched in partnership with charity Re-Cycle and hoped to collect at least 6,000 during the scheme.

CEO Matt Davies said: “Our partnership with Re-Cycle will mean these unwanted bikes will provide an opportunity which will result in people in Africa being able to transform their lives in a sustainable way.”
