People are being invited to have their say on Council Tax Benefits before the deadline runs out in two weeks.
This is the last chance for residents on the consultation regarding changes before the October 17 deadline.
At present, Council Tax Benefit is administered by local authorities but entirely funded by the government. However, this will be changing next year.
The government is abolishing Council Tax Benefit from April 2013 requiring all councils to devise their own local scheme. At the same time the government is reducing funding for local schemes by 10 per cent.
In Milton Keynes it is estimated that the government’s cut will be around £3m, which represents a significant challenge.
Before decisions are taken about a local scheme, they are seeking feedback from local people.
A decision will be made by the Council in November or December. This decision will take into account all consultation responses received.
For more information about the consultation or to submit a response, visit the website or pick up a consultation leaflet “Council Tax Benefit is Changing” from your local library or council office.
