If fate was ever playing its hand then it was clearly evident 11 years ago when Shukri Abou-ali found himself in Milton Keynes, by mistake!

Arriving in the UK from Sweden, he had the intention of heading south for London but mistakenly drove north!

Within a couple of months he had two jobs and quickly realised that his new location offered a variety of opportunities and Milton Keynes was the place to be.

Working hard paid off and four years later, now affectionately known as Ali, he opened a barber’s shop, creating employment for three local people. Determined to pursue his other passion, his love for food, he successfully opened the very first MK Lebanese take away in 2014.

This week, Mark Lancaster MP, was delighted to celebrate with Ali and his wife Ayesha, the opening of their third business, the Panache hair salon in Broughton.

Standing outside the salon at the official opening Ali proudly said, “I have more plans and ideas that I want to fulfil. I’m very ambitious and want to create more jobs for local people.

“Milton Keynes has given me a great future and I have met some great people who have really supported me. I barely had anything with me when I came to England but now I can say I’m very content with my life and I may not have been able to have achieved this if I wasn’t in Milton Keynes.

“This place has magic, it’s made my dreams come true.”

Mark said: “Ali’s determination and ambition to succeed has clearly paid dividends, not only professionally but in his personal life, having met his wife here and now a father of two.

“I congratulate them both on their achievements and wish them every continued success, of which I’m sure there will be many.”
