Big-hearted people donated 72 bags of items to the British Heart Foundation charity shop in the Kingston Centre as part of the charity’s month-long Bag It Beat It campaign.
BHF stores across the country took part in the campaign, with the contents being sold on to help fund life-saving research.
Before the BHF was founded, only one in five babies born with congenital heart disease saw their first birthday, but today around 4,000 children experience their first day at school every year.
Karen Clayton, from the Kingston Centre store, said: ““It’s great to see such an amazing number of bags collected from our event. The BHF currently funds over £14million into congenital heart disease research but this year they need to raise even more.
“The Milton Keynes community has done fantastically well and on behalf of everyone at the Kingston Centre, I would like to say a big thank you to those who helped reach this amazing total.
“There’s still time to join Bag It. Beat It. If you weren’t able to take part in our event you can fill a bag with good quality unwanted clothes, shoes, toys, books, CDs, DVDs and homewares, and donate the items to your local BHF shop. Join us and help the BHF in the fight against heart disease.”
