Hospital fundraiser makes a splash

Shopping bosses have made a magical maternity donation, after handing £3,000 to Leo’s Appeal at Milton Keynes Hospital.

The money from intu Milton Keynes will fund a new bath hoist for the children’s ward at Milton Keynes Hospital, as part of making the appeal its charity of the year for 2014. The hoist which will enable children with physical disabilities to be lifted in and out of the bath more comfortably, without causing distress to them and reducing the risk of physical injury, such as back pain, to carers.

Martin Hindson, general manager at intu Milton Keynes, said: “We are thrilled to be able to hand this cheque to Leo’s Appeal; it is going towards a very worthy cause and will cover the cost of something much-needed by many of the young patients at Milton Keynes Hospital.”

Vanessa Holmes, head of fundraising at Milton Keynes Hospital Charity, added: “Thank you so much to intu Milton Keynes for this amazing donation. We’re really looking forward to having the bath hoist installed, it will make a massive difference to the care of young patients with special and complex needs at Milton Keynes Hospital.”
