Milton Keynes Hospital to make case for part of £500m fund

Milton Keynes Hospital will make its case this month to receive part of a £500m Government fund to improve Accident & Emergency departments before winter.

The money will be handed to Accident & Emergency departments which struggle to cope with demand, especially during the winter months when pressure on services reaches a peak.

But it will also be available to other services, such as local authorities, which could help long-term patients get back into their homes and prevent so-called bed-blocking.

The hospital should find out if it is entitled to any cash in September.
