STAFF at a dog grooming salon have been left devastated after thieves stole around £100 from a charity collection box.

Mother and daughter team Tanya and Wendy Stephens, from Mucky Pups in Bletchley, said the theft took place sometime between Saturday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 15.

Tanya said: “This is absolutely disgusting, the lowest of the low. I don’t care how desperate you are, there is no excuse to steal from a charity.”

Worst of all the boxes were just days from being collected by the charity as they had nearly been filled.

Tanya said: “That is the most heartbreaking thing of it all. There is so much generosity going in to the boxes from people that come into the reception. I hope someone will have a conscience and come forward but if they were low enough to steal from a charity in the first place I see no reason why they would do so.”

However, if Tanya or Wendy had seen the theft take place they would have been powerless to stop it.

Tanya said: “Our first priority is the dogs and if we were both dealing with one each there was nothing we could have done to stop them. We couldn’t give chase because we would have had to have stayed with the dogs.”

Police are investigating and anyone with information should call 08458 505505.
