A community health assistant has been raising funds to buy baby monitors for families at risk of cot death.
Tina Parrott, aged 51, is the administrator for the Care of Next Infant (CONI) team in Milton Keynes, based at Hilltops Medical Centre in Great Holm.
Part of the Lullaby Trust, the CONI team supports families in Milton Keynes who have experienced a cot death.
Every week in the UK, five babies die sudenly and unexpectedly.
Families who have suffered the sudden and unexpected death of a baby tend to be extremely anxious on the birth of their new baby.
The CONI programme supports them for the first six months of their new baby’s life.
Tina has organised a series of fundraising events to enable the team to buy two new apnoea (sleep) monitors, which can be loaned to families for the first six months of their new baby’s life.
The monitors are portable machines used to detect a baby’s heartbeat and breathing. Each monitor costs £600.
Tina has organised bake sales a quiz night, a bingo evening, raffles and a tombola stall. Her final challenge will be a tandem sky dive on June 4. See http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/TinaParrott
