High Sheriff: '˜I am fiercely proud of Milton Keynes'

The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Francesca Skelton, thanked Milton Keynes for the 'honour' of allowing her to represent the city, as her term of office comes to an end.

Mrs Skelton, who has lived in MK for 39 years, was presented with a bouquet of flowers at MK Council’s last meeting before elections.

Speaking to councillors, she said: “I feel very proud and privileged to have represented Milton Keynes as High Sheriff.

“During my time living in MK, I have seen this city grow up - and I am fiercely proud of it.

“I feel like a pioneer, so incredibly proud of its political independence. This role has given me the platform to showcase MK at its very best.

“I have enjoyed showcasing its maturity and strength.

“Thank you for the honour.”

Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Keith McLean said: “It has been a tremendous honour to work with Francesca at the many events we have attended with many other civic leaders.

“I can assure you she promotes Milton Keynes to the hills whenever she can.”
