Hitting all the right notes at The Stables

CLASSIC-POP renditions will be raising the roof at The Stables this month when Brit Award winners Blake take to the stage with city performers.

Arts1 School of Performance will appear with Blake on Saturday, August 27 to perform some of the classical foursome’s favourites including Hallelujah, Jerusalem and Nessun Dorma.

Blake catapulted to global success after their formation using Facebook in 2007.

Since then they have enjoyed a warm response from fans and decided to embark on a nationwide search for local choirs to join them as part of their autumn tour.

Arts1 School of Performance runs theatre classes for students aged four to 21 and an adult musical theatre choir in Newport Pagnell and Wavendon, and are thrilled to be supporting Blake at such a fantastic venue.

Choirs who were interested in performing with Blake were invited to send a YouTube video link of the choir performing to the group’s official website, along with a short description of the choir. Each date of the tour will see a different choir from the local area perform several songs with the group.

Creative director of Arts1 James Grimsey, said: “We are all very excited about being chosen and about being part of such a high profile tour.”

After completing a nationwide schools tour, the four members of Blake were keen to encourage local choirs by inviting them to sing with them onstage.

Tenor Oliver Baines explains: “We thought about how we could involve school choirs and local community choirs in our live shows, and that getting some of the choirs up on stage with us would be a great experience for both them and us.”

The show in Wavendon is part of the An Evening with Blake UK tour schedule.
