HIV testing week in Milton Keynes

He joined dozens of MKC employees and associates to take advantage of the free HIV awareness and testing session, part of National HIV Testing Week, which runs until Sunday (November 27).

The drive is being promoted by HIV Prevention England (HPE), and this week there were two sessions at the council’s Saxon Court offices.

Cllr Marland said: “This is a national campaign but it fits in very well with the council’s own commitment to support HIV testing and other sexual health services. I was very happy to step forward and be the ‘testee’.”

It is getting easier to get tested for HIV in Milton Keynes and getting diagnosed early can make a huge difference.

There are now many different ways to get a free HIV test. Tests are available at any sexual health service in Milton Keynes and many family doctors can offer tests to patients which give a negative or reactive result straight away.

Milton Keynes residents can also get testing kits that they can use at home, by ordering at www.test.hiv. if they are among a ‘higher risk group’. such as men who have sex with men. For this group there is an evening event where there will be a series of presentations, as well as the opportunity to be tested for HIV & other STIs etc.

This will take place between 6pm and 8pm this Thursday (24 Nov) at the Milton Keynes Sexual Health Clinic, Milton Keynes University Hospital, Standing Way.
