Honda F1 is to open an engine research and development unit at Winterhill, making the city even more of hub for motorsport technology.
The deal for the premises at Grampion Gate was signed this week with NL Property.
Honda’s plans to set up shop in MK were revealed exclusively two years ago by the Citizen.
The company currently supplies engines for the McLaren Formula One team and has ambitions to
supply multiple teams in the future.
Their intention is to use the research facility to push into F1 engine technology advancement.
The new business will create around 35 full-time jobs, which will be a mixture of high-skilled engineering positions and support staff
NL Property director Guy Harman said: “NL Property are delighted to be expanding Honda’s F1 operations in Milton Keynes for the future through the creation of a new R&D building.
“Honda is supplying its F1 engines and this facility will service that venture. Charles Macdonald, chief executive of Milton Keynes Development Partnership, said: “This is great news and a good example of what can be achieved by working proactively together to deliver greater benefit to Milton Keynes.”
