Labour leader Pete Marland has admitted he is not proud of the council’s budget, which he described as the “toughest” in history.
At tonight’s cabinet meeting in Milton Keynes Council’s chamber, Mr Marland spoke out about the 2015/16 budget will see services slashed.
Council leader Mr Marland said: “I am not proud of this budget. I did not come into politics to make £22million worth of cuts.
“We have to be honest with citizens, and this administration will always be honest with our citizens - we need to find the money.
“I don’t believe, regardless of political colour of next government, there is a white knight coming to save us.
“But we can be bold and ambitious in how we wish to carry on delivering services and ask the public to work with us”.
