Identify Milton Keynes criminals on your smartphone

A new app to help identify criminals on a smartphone is being launched by Thames Valley Police today.

Facewatch App is a tool to help the public identify people the police would like to speak to in connection with low-level crime by viewing pictures uploaded by the police.

The App works on any smartphone, is free to download and the images are searchable by postcode.

Ch Insp Colleen Lavery, from Neighbourhood Policing and Partnerships, said: “The Facewatch App gives members of the public the opportunity to see images of people police would like to speak to in their neighbourhood.

“If they recognise anyone they can choose to submit information, in confidence or openly, via their smartphone directly to the police by clicking ‘Identify’.

“The App is already used by a number of forces across the country, including the Metropolitan Police Service, West Midlands Police, City of London Police, Surrey Police, Northamptonshire Police and British Transport Police.

“We hope residents in the Thames Valley will also download the App to help us reduce crime and keep their communities safe.”
