International stage beckons for musician

The Lions Europa Music Competition is held every year to encourage young musical talent.

This year, with the help of Adrian Boynton, director of music at the City Church of Christ the Cornerstone, the Lions Club of Bletchley chose Emily Mowbray as its district candidate.

Emily, aged 23, had to play a mandatory piece of music followed by an optional piece selected from a list.

After winning the District competition, Emily took part in the Multiple District level, which was held at the prestigious Chethams music school in Manchester on April 3.

Emily won through again at that level and now will represent the Lions clubs of Britain and Ireland.

This will be Emily’s opportunity to perform on the international stage, when the next level of the competition is held in Sofia, Bulgaria, in October.

Emily’s costs in entering the competition have been fully funded by The Lions Club of Bletchley and Lions International.
