A woman is leading a team of fundraisers who will run 68 miles in two days to raise money for CLIC Sargent.
Santander employee Jennifer Sangster - along with four colleagues and members of local running group David Lloyd Redway Runners - will undertake the challenge on July 2 as part of a mission to boost funds for CLIC Sargent, Santander’s 2013 Charity of the Year. The eight-strong team will complete the challenge over two days, with some running and some cycling 34 miles from Santander House in Milton Keynes to CLIC Sargent’s head office in Headington, Oxford, on Tuesday July 2.
They will then make the return journey the following day.
The 68 Mile Challenge reflects the average daily distance a parent has to travel to be with their child when they are being treated for cancer in hospital.
The team hopes to raise over £1,000 for the charity, which helps ensure that children and young people with cancer – and their families – receive care and support when they need it most.
Jennifer, a business manager, said: “Having just completed the London and Milton Keynes marathons within two weeks of each other, I’m really looking forward to this next challenge.
“I’ve never run more than 26.2 miles in one go but I couldn’t think of a better cause and a better bunch of people to do it with.
“Let’s just hope the weather is kind to us!”
Throughout this year, Santander is supporting a host of fundraising activities for CLIC Sargent.
Jonathan Elliot, Santander’s community manager, said: “The enthusiasm and commitment being shown by Jennifer and her team is fantastic and we hope to raise even more funds and awareness for this great case throughout the year.”
