Join in club's first 50-mile sportive

The Broughton Cycling Group is launching its first 50-mile sportive on May 8, with all profits going to Willen Hospice.

Event organiser Iain Morrison said: “Many of us within the group have attended cycling events around the country.

“We felt that the time was right to host our own event and Willen Hospice is an amazing local charity, close to our hearts.”

The Broughton Cycling Group was co-founded by chairman Gary Stimson in 2013, after he had to surrender his driving licence for 12 months following a seizure.

Gary said: “I initially took up cycling to maintain my independence but quickly developed a passion for the sport.

“At first I started cycling with my neighbour Rick Vernon and as word spread, more members of the community started to join us.”

As its reputation has grown, the group has attracted riders of all abilities and ages from all over Milton Keynes and as far as Northampton.
