Judges for the MK Food and Leisure Awards have been sampling some of the best food and drink the town has to offer ahead of the awards ceremony on May 10.
The panel met at Paris House on Saturday to find Milton Keynes’ best local product.
Among the entries being judged were Old Bloomer beer by Concrete Cow Brewery, golden raspberry jam by Jam Moo Kow, apple brandy by Virtual Orchard and ketchup by Sinclair Condiments.
The competition on the day was divided between best local food and best local drink.
Judges include Phil Fanning, executive chef and owner at Paris House, local blogger Rob Parkes from @robsribsmk and Paul Eason. business chef from Pidy and founder Steven Dryden-Hall.
A canape competition was held yesterday, Monday where MK College students battled it out to make half a dozen canapes with the best four to be made for the 200 guests expected to attend the awards.
The students each had two-and-a-half hours to create their canapés for the judging panel.
The winning canapés were made by Carrie Sneddon with hoisin duck filo, avocado salsa flower cups, red onion and goats cheese in a spinach cup and seared tuna and mango salsa.
The MK Food and Leisure Awards will be held at the Woburn Sculpture Gallery.
