A hotel chain with a branch in Milton Keynes has raised £50,000 for charity in a 5k relay.
More then 600 staff from Jurys Inn hotels in 22 cities, including Milton Keynes, held their annual employee fundraiser with this year’s theme Relay in the City.
Beginning at dawn, teams from across the UK, walked, cycled and ran 5K relays through their local city.
Some daring staff also did their bit for charity by donning fancy dress and completing the race on a space hopper.
Sam Shepherd, head of human resources at Jurys Inn said: “We are thrilled our staff have been able to raise funds again this year to help local charities throughout the 22 cities we operate in and we also want to extend our thanks to the public, who donated to our bucket collections, as this will further help our selected charities continue to do valuable work in the community.”
The Relay in the City charity challenge raised a total of £25,000 across the UK and Ireland, with Jurys Inn CEO John Brennan doubling the amount raised.
Last year’s charity fundraiser was a 100-mile charity challenge.
