Kalps is set for a bad hair day

A hotel manager from Bletchley is having his head shaved for charity after smashing his fundraising target two weeks ahead of schedule.

Kalps Jetha, aged 29, has met his £250 fundraising target for Macmillan Cancer Support’s Brave the Shave campaign, and is pushing for more ahead of the big event, which colleagues have dubbed ‘Kalps reveals his scalp’.

Kalps will be losing his locks at the Campanile Hotel, in Fenny Stratford, where he is general manager, on Tuesday, May 31.

Some of his colleagues will be taking it in turns to cut off his hair.

Kalps said: “My father-in-law passed away recently from kidney failure and was on dialysis for 14 years, so I wanted to do something to help people who are in a similar situation to him battling terminal illness.

“I was sat watching TV one day and Macmillan’s Brave the Shave advert came on urging people to make a change to others’ lives, which made me think: ‘That’s a brilliant idea.’

“I’m the kind of guy who likes my hairstyle, so I thought I’d sacrifice it to raise some money for charity.

“I know my father-in-law would have been proud that I’d done something for charity.

“My family, friends and work colleagues have been fantastic in helping me to reach my fundraising target so quickly, so in return I’ll be sat in the hotel reception so everybody can have a go at chopping off some of my hair.

“I don’t trust any of them with a blade though, so I’ll be popping to the hairdressers afterwards to tidy it up.”

Kalps is one of 25,000 peopl ewho are taking part in Macmillan’s Brave The Shave initiative, which sees men and women from around the UK shave their heads to raise funds for the charity which helps people with cancer to take back control of their life.
