Developer and investor GLP is planning to build two units totalling 254,859 sq ft on the 13.2 acre site, which will be called G-Park.

They will demolish an existing warehouse on the site because it is "outdated", they say,

GLP, which runs Magna Park in MK, say the move follows the acceleration of e-commerce, which has led to a surge in demand for logistics real estate.

The company has this month discussed its plans with Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership (MKBLP).

GLP revealed plans to build a third 88,000 sq ft unit called Magnitude 88 at Magna Park. They say all the sites will all benefit from rainwater harvesting, energy monitoring, LED lighting technology and lower carbon emissions during construction.

GLP UK Managing Director, Bruce Topley and Development Director, Joe Garwood said the 388 acre site now employs 6,000 people.

The company has also contributed up to £40 million on local infrastructure to support the development.

Bruce said: “The growth of e-commerce in the UK has been accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic given the increased importance of home deliveries. As a result, we have seen a surge in demand for logistics real estate in the right locations."

He added: "Customers are also seeking to reinforce their supply chains and increasingly require higher

specification buildings and cutting-edge sustainability credentials.”

Both the Willen warehouses will have 15m to 18m eaves height.
