Lib Dems re-elect leader for third time running

Councillor Douglas McCall has been re-elected leader of the Liberal Democrats on Milton Keynes Council for the third time.

His re-election follows last week’s local elections where with no overall majority the Labour group assumed control and Councillor Peter Marland became leader of the council.

The new leader of the Conservative group was announced as Edith Bald following Andrew Geary’s resignation from the position on the morning of the elections.

UKIP managed to keep one seat as David Nash, was elected for Bletchley East shortly after Lee Barney failed to

get a seat in Monkston.

Mr McCall said: “I am pleased and honoured to have been re-elected for the third year as Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group of councillors on Milton Keynes Council.

“I would also like to congratulate my new Deputy Leader Stuart Burke on his election.”
