THE saying goes that golf is a pleasant walk interrupted, but for The Living Room the game could be a real life-changer.
The Witan Gate bar and restaurant has joined forces with Mentmore Golf Club to host a very special charity golf day.
Proceeds from the event, which takes place on Wednesday, July 4, will go towards Milton Keynes charity Women and Work.
The fundraising event is a great way for golfing fans, whatever their handicap, to get into the swing of helping others.
Living Room General Manager David Pugh said: “Sporting events always come with stiff competition, and a round of golf is often hotly fought, but for our session it won’t matter at all whether you are six under par or six over.
“By getting out on the fairway we hope to be able to give women in the city a fair chance at getting into work. Join us for a stress-free day on the course and help local people and the local economy.”
Women and Work aims to help women in MK improve their employment prospects by providing advice and guidance and a variety of free training courses.
It works with women who face barriers such as lack of confidence or aspiration, problems writing their CV and cover letters, limited skills or uncertainty in their career path.
By working to boost their confidence, providing careers advice, helping with writing CVs and offering training sessions, Women and Work gives them the chance to get on to their chosen career path.
“We’re delighted to be helping Women and Work, and what better place for a round of golf than Mentmore Golf Club,” Mr Pugh added.
“It will be a great day out, rain or shine, and we hope lots of people will join us to put fun and fundraising at the fore.”
The charity golf day costs £340 per four ball, including a glass of bubbly on arrival, a donation to the charity, a round of golf on Mentmore’s 18-hole championship course and a three-course meal afterwards at hole 19 – The Living Room.
Prizes on the day will include a distillery tour by Chase, a magnum of Lauren Perrier Champagne and many more.
All players must adhere to club rules and etiquette and places can be booked by contacting David Pugh or Heidi Sadler on 01908 827299 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
