NHS Milton Keynes wishes you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
The following information will make you aware of local NHS services and opening times, to help you choose well over the festive period, so that you can get the right treatment.
Details of local pharmacy services open during the Bank Holiday periods can be found at local pharmacies, GP surgeries and Libraries and on the website
For urgent dental problems outside of normal working hours, contact your dental surgery in the first instance. For emergencies, you can also contact the Milton Keynes Urgent Care Centre on 01908 201022. Check with your GP surgery to find out their opening hours over the bank holiday period.
If you need a doctor outside of normal hours, please contact the Milton Keynes Urgent Care Service on 01908 201022.
The GP service is available between 6pm and 8am weekdays, and 24 hours a day at weekends and bank holidays.
The urgent care number is available to call 24 hours a day if you need medical help fast, but it’s not a life-threatening situation.
For minor injuries and illness, such as cuts, sprains, strains and itches, wherever possible do not go to A&E, where it is often likely to take longer to be seen. Where appropriate, please use the Minor Injuries Unit at the Milton Keynes Urgent Care Centre, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week .
And please remember to avoid visiting hospitals or care homes if you are feeling unwell, particularly if you have a cold or flu-like symptoms, or diarrhoea and vomiting. This will help to avoid the spreading of germs to people in hospital or care homes who are already vulnerable.
Don’t forget NHS Direct is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for free, confidential health advice and information. Call 0845 46 47 or go to NHS
Not all accidents are emergencies – leave A&E to those who need it most.
