Lorry visit helps teach road safety

A huge lorry made its way to Rainbow Children’s Centre at Pepper Hill School in Bradville on Tuesday.

The visit was part of a day of activities to promote road safety to children. The centre, on Kingsfold, has teamed with DHL and the local community police officer for the event which will help children understand the dangers of being around large vehicles and roads.

A series of fun games showed how long it takes for a lorry to stop, where the driver’s blind spots are and how hard it is to see and hear pedestrians, particularly children, from a lorry cab.

Liz McGrath, Rainbow Children’s Centre Coordinator, said: “Knowing how to be safe around large vehicles and roads is so important.”
