New uniforms and a liveried trailer have been purchased by Bradwell Silver Band, thanks to Big Lottery funding.

The band, which received just over £8,000, has a busy schedule for the remainder of the year and are busy rehearsing for the autumn concert at St James’ Church, New Bradwell on Saturday, October 10, at 7.30pm, with tickets available to purchase on the door.

The concert is a celebration of the year, before the band concentrates on the upcoming Christmas engagements. The full engagement list can be found on www.bradwellband.co.uk

Quatermaster and press officer Stephanie Chappell said: “Bradwell Silver Band is a busy working band with a jam-packed schedule throughout the year, including contests, community and charity events.

“Our uniforms are a major factor in our brand image and the support from the Big Lottery will allow us to replace our tired but well used jackets.

“Of course the logistics of getting the band equipment and instruments to those many engagements is just as important as presentation so we welcome the opportunity to purchase a new band trailer.

“The support from the Big Lottery is invaluable to a small community band and will help keep us marching on.”

The grant from the Big Lottery will allow the band to commit other funds to its ever growing Development Band which can now boast 28 playing members.

All the players are given free instruments and tuition and are now beginning to take on their own engagements within the community.
