Make a splash at the annual Dragon Boat Festival

The annual Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival is already making waves, even though the event is still two months away!

Companies, clubs and organisations are signing up to take part in the festival, on Sunday, June 19, which is in support of Age UK Milton Keynes.

Up to 60 companies participate each year, a mix of new and returning crews.

One of the first to sign up in 2016, following their successful first time appearance in 2015, was MK accountancy firm, Mazars.

“Mazars entered the Dragon Boat Festival for the first time last year as a team building event and had such a good day that we had to enter again!” said crew manager Claire Thompson.

“The day gives our staff the opportunity to get to know colleagues from other parts of the business so that we can work together more cohesively.
“We will be putting out a mixed team that includes a serious triathlete and several competitive runners - so watch out!”

The race support for Age UK MK comes at a critical time for older people in the community, and the charity needs to be able to offer support to those who are the most isolated and lonely, may of whom are in their eighties and nineties.

The top fundraisers from the event will win the charity trophy, and a £300 voucher towards a celebratory meal donated by The Swan at Salford.

No previous experience is necessary to take part, just lots of team spirit and enthusisam!

All equipment is provided and on the day, plenty of bankside activities will be available at this long-established, great day out.
