A man was flown to hospital with multiple injuries following a road traffic collision this afternoon on the M1.
The incident happened at 12.06pm when Magpas paramedics landed their air ambulance on the M1 to treat a man injured when his HGV came off the road.
The M1 was closed in both directions to allow the air ambulance to land.
After assessing the patient, who is in his 50s, they immobilised him to protect his injuries and provided him with pain relief.
He was then flown to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where he was in a potentially serious but stable condition upon arrival.
EEAST Ambulance Service were also in attendance.
