Man facing eviction in Milton Keynes hopes to marry his online bride instead

Peter Dancey, 75, has lived in his council house in Bala Close, Bletchley for almost two years but is now facing eviction.

A retired aviation engineer for the Royal Air Force, Mr Dancey has made allegations that the council is “kicking him out of his house because he 
abandoned the property”.

Mr Dancey says this is untrue but admits he did leave for six weeks last year to visit his future bride in Kenya.

His fiancée Lily, who he met on a dating site, lives in Nirobi and the couple have been chatting online for two years.

However Mr Dancey cannot relocate to the Swahili-speaking country until he is officially married to Kenyan-born Lily.

The council have said that Mr Dancey has breached his tenancy agreements due to alleged anti-social behaviour and this is why he could be evicted, not because he went on holiday.

Mr Dancey has had a number of altercations with his neighbours, who claim he is loud and disruptive late at night.

However he says he has been “bullied” by his neighbours at the council house in the Lakes Estate.

“The council have failed me,” he said.

He added: “I just want to get away from everything - my bullying neighbours and the council so I can leave for Kenya.

“They don’t believe anything I say and now they want to evict me from my home.”

For Mr Dancey, he is keen to put the turmoil behind him so he can begin life again in Africa with his new bride.

A spokesman from Milton Keynes council, said: “We have started legal proceedings against Mr Dancey as a result of him breaching the terms of his tenancy due to alleged anti-social behaviour.

“We do not take these actions lightly.

“This matter will go to court, and we have advised Mr Dancey to seek independent legal advice and independent housing advice via the Citizens’ Advice Bureau.”

Kenyan born Lily, who is aware of the struggles her future husband has faced in his “housing battle” remains hopeful that he can move to Kenya to live with her and her 24-year-old son.

Mr Dancey met Lily, on a dating site which targets people in the UK looking for African partners.
