A 34-year-old man was robbed in an underpass by a stranger who rode his bike towards him at speed on Saturday night.

It happened at around 10.30pm on the H6 Childs Way between Campbell Park and Springfield.

The victim was walking from the direction of the town centre towards Springfield through the underpass when he saw the man cycling towards him.

He carried on walking but then felt a push to his back causing him to fall to the ground and drop his phone.

The victim then saw the man he had seen earlier riding towards him pick up his phone, a grey Samsung Galaxy S3, and cycle off towards Springfield.

The offender is possibly mixed race, aged between 24 and 27 years old and around 5ft 8ins.

The victim could not see the offender’s hair as they were wearing a cap but noted they had no facial hair or visible tattoos.

The offender was wearing a baseball cap which was possibly white, a dark jacket possibly blue or black, dark grey tracksuit bottoms and trainers which were dark with white laces.

The victim sustained a graze to their elbow but did not attend hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the offender in the area or anyone acting suspiciously.
