Man stabbed in attack by five-strong gang


A man was stabbed in the leg in a vicious street attack in Fishermead.

He was suddenly surrounded by gang of five men as he walked along Penryn Avenue at around 6.30pm last night.

As he was stabbed, another gang member stole his phone.

His injuries are not life-threatening, but he was taken to hospital where he remains, police said.

Det Sgt Tom Belcher said: “This was a vicious attack yesterday evening in which a group of men targeted the victim from behind and robbed him of his mobile phone.

“We are determined to identify the perpetrators in this incident and I am appealing for anyone with any information to come forward and speak to police by calling the Enquiry Centre number 101.

“Alternatively, if you don’t want to speak directly to the police, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.”
