A man suffered racist verbal abuse and had hot coffee thrown over him outside a supermarket in Westcroft.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information after the assault in Morrison’s car park, outside Costa Coffee.

The victim, a 24-year-old, was reversing his white Mitsubishi Evo, at around 3.25pm on Sunday, May 10.

Two women, one with blonde hair and one with red hair, then approached his vehicle and were racially abusive of him.

The woman with blonde hair then threw hot coffee over the victim and his car.

Investigating officer PC Rebecca Wade said: “I would like to reassure the public we are investigating this offence. Assaults and racist behaviour will not be tolerated in our community.”

The blonde woman is in her mid-thirties, shorter than the other woman, of medium build, with straight, medium-length hair. She was wearing jeans and was carrying a handbag and shopping bag.

The red-haired offender is also in her mid-thirties, slim, with short hair. She was wearing glasses and trousers.

Anyone who witnessed the assault, or knows the identity of the offenders, is asked to call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101.
