He was greeted in traditional Hindu manner later meeting both junior and senior volunteers of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, and being taken on a tour of the Mandir complex.

The visit was organised by BAPS volunteers from Milton Keynes to introduce the Mayor to the various social, community and outreach activities organised by the Mandir – many of which

take place in Milton Keynes.

Mr Hopkins said: “The Mandir is truly an amazing building. What is also extraordinary is the volunteer force behind this very peaceful place of worship in London. The

main foundation upon which this organisation was formed is remarkably evident at this Mandir.”

He also drew upon the example of fostering a diverse culture at the heart of the Milton Keynes community.

The Mayoress Susan Hopkins, added: “I am truly inspired by your work for the community and hospitality. We could all share from your example.”
