Mayor officially opens reading room at New Chapter School

A newly refurbished reading room at New Chapter School was officially opened by MK's Mayor this morning.

Councillor Keith McLean was invited to see the latest phase in a series of improvements made by the Coffee Hall school over the past three years.

During his visit, the mayor was treated to a rendition of the school song ‘We are the children of New Chapter’ followed by an excerpt from Shakespeare’s a Midsummer Night’s Dream by Year six students.

He also enjoyed the story of The Graffalo provided by representatives of Year 3 and Year four’s poem recital of the poem Gran can you Rap.

Mr Mclean presented the winners of various school competitions with certificates before being whisked away to undertake reading duties to a group of Year 1 and 2 students, then enjoying a tour of the school before finally ending up talking with staff and governors over late morning coffee and cakes.
