Men set fire to a doormat in attempted arson in Milton Keynes

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information following an incident of arson in Milton Keynes.

At around 1.20am on Sunday (July 24) a group of four men walked along Highland Drive, Broughton, from the direction of Warwick Avenue before stopping directly in front of a house when one of them set fire to a newspaper put it on the doormat.

The group then ran off in the direction of Foxfield and the local skate park.

A member of public managed to extinguish the fire with a bucket of water. The property was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

Investigating officer John Swallow, said: “This was a serious incident in which, fortunately, nobody was injured because there was nobody in the property at the time.

“We are investigating this and I would like to encourage anyone who has any information about this incident to contact me via the 24 hour non-emergency number 101 using the reference number 43150203212.”
