Meningitis B vaccination is available privately in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes based Bloom Clinic is offering the Meningitis B vaccination.

There has been a national shortage of the vaccination, which is only available to babies on the NHS, but through Bloom Clinic, parents of pre school children and upwards can get the vaccination privately, administered at the Care Quality Commission registered Clinic.

The vaccination protects children against meningococcal infections which can cause meningitis and septicaemia, in some cases causing severe brain damage, amputations, or death.

As with all vaccines, the Meningitis B vaccine can cause side-effects, but studies suggest they are generally mild and not long lasting.

According to NHS Choices, almost 8,000 people, including more than 5,000 babies and toddlers, have had the new Meningitis B vaccine during clinical trials to test its safety.

Since it has been licensed, close to a million doses have been given, with no safety concerns identified.

Bloom Clinic was established in 2008 with mission to integrate cosmetic and general medical services under one roof, to be at the forefront in providing latest and advanced treatments in the Milton Keynes area.
