Businesses in Milton Keynes are being urged to sign up to a new Thames Valley Police text alert service designed to fight crime.

Thames Valley Police has today launched a new messaging service to provide up-to-date information on crimes and prevention advice specifically aimed at businesses across the region.

The new Thames Valley Business Alert scheme is designed for anyone who owns, runs or works for a business and aims to work with local communities to help fight business crime.

This new messaging service follows on from the success of the County Watch, which was set up in 2013 as part of the Thames Valley Alert.

Ch Insp Colleen Lavery, from the Neighbourhood Policing and Partnership team said: “Thames Valley Police is committed to involving the community in policing across our region.

“Following the success of Country Watch, we decided that we wanted to offer a similar service to our businesses, which has led to the creation of this new enhanced scheme.

“The new enhanced service will enable businesses to take an active role in preventing and reducing crime, allow them to share best practice and raise business crime prevention awareness.

“I believe that by improving the flow of information between the business community and the police, we can make a greater impact on the prevention and detection of crime and anti-social behaviour.”

If you live or work in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire or Milton Keynes, you can register now to receive alerts related to business crime in your area, by email, text or telephone, to suit your lifestyle.

Existing Thames Valley Alert users can update their profiles on their accounts to receive Business Alert. New users can sign up through the Thames Valley Business Alert website from today by visiting
