Members of the Musica Charity Choir MK recorded themselves singing from their individual homes to a version of the wartime classic We'll Meet Again - complete with lockdown lyrics.

The choir will officially release the video on YouTube and Facebook tomorrow (Friday) to encourage donations to the Milton Keynes Community Foundation’s Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal.

“It was fun to do and a good technical challenge”, said Musica’s Music Director Ken Storry. “We hope this version will raise some smiles - and also help to raise funds for services for local people most in need.

"We hope people will tell their family and friends and join us for a good old fashioned sing-along to get the weekend and the VE celebrations off to a fun start."

Viewers can also sing along on both channels to Musica’s first virtual choir performance, What a Wonderful World

The choir, which performs to help local organisations raise funds for good causes, had been booked for VE-Day concerts in May but obviously all these have been cancelled.

Members were "delighted" to help spread the word about the Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal, said Ken.

The appeal was launched to Appeal to generate much-needed funds to support local community groups delivering frontline services, such as food, shopping or generally helping people's wellbeing. Already it has raised around £200,000.

Ranjit Singh, Philanthropy Director at Milton Keynes Community Foundation said: “We will continue to provide support to meet the needs of our community as long as the pandemic continues and beyond.

"Our target is £400,000 by June and we are halfway there, all donations are appreciated and help us make a difference.”

Donations to the appeal can be made by BACs, cheque or online. For more details click here

The lyrics, should you fancy a singing along, are below.

Let’s stay locked down for a while dear,

But keep a smile dear while apart. (oo)

We'll keep two metres apart dear,

But I still love you sweetheart.

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again some sunny day.

Keep smiling through, just like you always do,

‘Till the vaccine drives this virus far away.

So will you please go online with your Skype and Facetime,

With your What's App or Zoom (What’s App or Zoom).

Or call friends on your phone so you feel less alone In your own living room.

We’ll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again some sunny day. (ooo)

We’ll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again some sunny day.

Keep smiling through, just like you always do,

‘Till the vaccine drives the virus far away.

These things we’ll do ‘cos we may: Exercise once a day,

Shop two metres apart. (metres apart)

And together we’ll win, as we beat it we’ll sing,

And remain in good heart.

We’ll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again some sunny day. (sunny day)
