Milton Keynes College catering courses awarded top industry accreditation
A culinary launch pad for many chefs who have moved onto prestigious restaurants, including Le Manoir, The Brasserie, the restaurant within Milton Keynes College's catering department, has been awarded the coveted People 1st Gold Accreditation.
The accreditation, which is the highest standard for college catering excellence, follows The Brasserie’s AA College Rosette status of Highly Commended, awarded just last month.
The Gold Accreditation recognises the outstanding work and dedication placed on training students to be the hospitality staff and chefs of the future. It is awarded to colleges that achieve the best in their class and demonstrate a progressive and sustainable commitment to matching learners’ skills with employers’ needs.
Based within the catering department at Milton Keynes College, The Brasserie is a commercial restaurant open to public, staff and students alike. Using local ingredients, dishes are freshly prepared and served by students, under the watchful eye of a professional head chef and restaurant manager.
“We are delighted with this accreditation and proud of the on-going success of our catering courses, and The Brasserie.” said Maria Bowness, head of school for Hair, Beauty, Hospitality & Events at Milton Keynes College.
“The Gold Accreditation is fantastic recognition of the proactive approach that Milton Keynes College takes to the professional development of its staff and the effective and collaborative working partnerships we have with industry.”
Andy Doyle, membership operations manager at People 1st commented: “Huge congratulations to all at Milton Keynes College on achieving the Gold Accreditation. We were pleased to see a very high standard of Food & Beverage services upon our recent visit and applaud the College’s recent AA College Rosette status of Highly Commended.
“We are now looking forward to working with the College to discuss the delivery of specific Front of House qualifications, which will enable The Brasserie to achieve further recognition as a Centre of Excellence.”
