Milton Keynes College '˜on the hunt' for the next big talent

This week, individuals and students from schools and academies across the country visited Arena MK to find out more about the opportunities on offer at The National Apprenticeship Show.

Milton Keynes College was among 85 exhibitors on the lookout for students with the ambition to take their skills and qualifications to the next level.

The college enticed prospective students onto its stand with a prize grabber machine, which saw them grabbing as many orange slips as they could, in order to be in with a chance of winning an iPad mini.

Once they’d been blown away by the machine, the College hoped to do the same again with details of its diverse range of work based training programmes, giving students an insight into their future education and career prospects. Teachers at the show were also keen to gather information about apprenticeships, which they could then pass back to their respective schools and academies.

With 544 young people registering with Milton Keynes College at the show and 315 students aged 16+ – who could be on board as early as September 2017 – it was a hugely successful apprenticeship event for Milton Keynes College.

Tracey Matthews, director of apprenticeships at Milton Keynes College explains: “Our main aim at The National Apprenticeship Show was to inform prospective students and teachers about the benefits of undertaking an apprenticeship, whether they’re looking for their first role, an alternative to A-Levels or university or their next step in business.

“The show is a fantastic platform for us to informally introduce the College and discuss the vast number of businesses that we work with, in order to provide the skills and qualifications required to progress into a successful and fulfilling career.”
