A Milton Keynes dentist is all smiles this week, after her unique education scheme for children scooped a national award.
Cherry Trees Dental, owned by Dr Debbie Ganguli, won the UK Best Children’s Dental Health Initiative gong at the Private Dentistry Awards.
Her team run a scheme that has also won praise from Milton Keynes schools. The free service to local schools which promotes dental hygiene in an interesting and informative way, linking to the national curriculum and subjects including history and science. Nearly 30 schools have taken advantage, as well as groups such as Rainbows, Brownies and Beavers. Judges were especially impressed by the team’s innovative ideas such as game show formats.
Dr Ganguli, who grew up in Milton Keynes and lives in Gifford Park, said: “The whole team is over the moon. We were highly commended in this category last year and have worked hard since then to spread the dental health message even further among local children, so it’s fantastic to receive this national recognition.”
