Milton Keynes education charity Worktree could be quids in with Grow Your Tenner support

Worktree is taking part in Localgiving's Grow Your Tenner match fund campaign, meaning that any donation you make to the charity through its Localgiving page until November 11 will be matched up to £10.

Worktree is an employability education charity based in here in Milton Keynes, previously known as Countec EBP.

Over the past two decades it has organised work placements for 50,000 school students, 3,000 school visits from work guests and run its own full-time ‘school without walls’ for 300 excluded 14-16 year olds.

Worktree’s current focus is delivery of ‘Career WorkOut’, a one-hour session in which small groups of three or four school students interview up to 10 diverse work guests about their work in a carousel conversations.

“We have ambitious plans to grow Career WorkOut from 4,000 students this year to 6,000 students next year, eventually reaching all 15,000 MK secondary school students and one in 50 MK workers,” said Tom Bulman of Worktree .

“It only takes an hour and 99% of work guests participating so far have strongly agree they enjoyed it. We are delighted at getting volunteers from such a wide range of businesses so far.”

Tony Nelson, Headteacher of The Hazeley Academy, added: “Good teachers are vital but students need to meet a range of other adults who can inform and inspire them to succeed at work. Worktree’s Career WorkOut sessions have had a dramatic positive impact on our students’ aspirations, personal vision and drive.”
