Milton Keynes' founding father sees transport dream come true
Forward-thinking architect Bill Berrett created a proposal for driverless cars and buses when the new city was still in its design stages in the 1960s.
But his ideas, which included a monorail system – never saw the light of day.

Hide AdThis month Bill paid a visit to MK’s Transport Catapult, specially to view the new driverless pods.
“It allowed Bill to compare his original vision with the latest transport innovations being developed here,” said a spokesman.
The Transport Systems Catapult is currently utilising three “pods” in the city in a technology trial aimed at developing autonomous transport vehicles for the public.
The spokesman said: “It is hoped Bill’s vision will become a reality later in the year, when the Transport Systems Catapult aim to begin operating the LUTZ Pathfinder pods fully autonomously.”
