Key attractions open for free included Milton Keynes Museum, Bletchley Park, Bradwell Windmill, Cowper and Newton Museum, plus lots of places not normally open to the public such as MK Stadium, churches across the area, many exhibitions drawing on MK's extraordinary women such as 'Women who made MK' by the Fawcett Society Milton Keynes Group at MK Central Library, and more.

A big medieval family day was also hosted at Bradwell Abbey, children (and adults!) got creative with scrap at Festive Road in Kiln Farm, food was made and enjoyed at the World War 2 wartime cafe at MK Community Fridge.

And there is plenty kmore to come this weekend.

Another 30 events and open days are planned, including a family dance workshop at York House in Stony Stratford, Blazing Saddles by the Bicycle Ballet Company near Willen Lake, Claydon House, The Old Gaol in Buckingham, lots of guided walks, the ROCLA Art Trail and loads more.

Peter Marland, leader of Milton Keynes Council, said: "I wish to congratulate each and every person, event organiser and volunteer that has given up their own time since 2006, to make MK Heritage Open Days the flagship annual event that it is now.

"Volunteering is the lifeblood for this event and also for the heritage sector.

"It is remarkable in the way that our heritage organisations support, and are supported by, volunteers of all ages, who give something back to their communities, but who in return benefit from physical and mental stimulation and a social side to volunteering that is immensely rewarding, keeping them healthy and active.

Mel Jeavons, general manager at the Living Archive, added: "This is the first year we've held events over two weekends. We're really looking forward to building on the success of last weekend, with lots more free open days and events this weekend across Milton Keynes and beyond."
