Milton Keynes Hospital “requires improvement”

Following the inspection on October 22-23 last year, hospital chiefs were immediately informed so they could “take steps to improve”.

In a report published today by England’s Chief Inspector of Hospitals, Professor Sir Mike Richards, urgent and emergency care and medical care were rated as needing improvement.

But Mr Richards praised the hospital for scoring ‘good’ on six out of the eight core services reviewed, adding that he saw “outstanding practice” during his inspection.

He said: “Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been working hard to make improvements.

“Overall, this trust was found to require improvement, although we rated it good in all its core services, with two exceptions, and witnessed evidence of outstanding practice.

“The leadership at the trust has given us assurances that it is making the necessary improvements and we have already witnessed some of these in action.

“We will continue to monitor this trust and will return to carry out further inspections to check on what improvements have been made.”
