The fund is designed to strengthen the resilience of organisations that are already contributing to enhancing diversity within the sector. Initially £2.1 million was made available, but the level of funding has been uplifted using Lottery money due to the strength of applications received, with 40 organisation benefiting from the fund.

The £120,432 will support MKIAC’s organisational and artistic development, as well as its capacity to contribute to the Creative Case for Diversity.

‘MKIAC will collaborate with four National Portfolio Organisations, museums and universities to develop a year-round programme, which will build on its work to date in engaging and integrating Muslim and other diverse communities.’

“We already have a varied and rich arts and cultural sector in England, but we know that there is more to do before it truly reflects the wide diversity that runs through our cities, towns and villages,” said Hedley Swain, Area Director, South East, Arts Council England.

“Elevate funding is a really important part of making that happen, providing essential support that will enable more diverse-led organisations to grow, both as businesses and programmers of high quality arts. Milton Keynes Islamic Arts, Heritage & Culture Organisation’s work to engage Muslims and other diverse communities has already had an important impact in Milton Keynes and we are really pleased to be able to support its ambitious plans to develop this further,” he added.
